Foreign Currency Cash

Foreign Currency Demand Drafts

Foreign Currency Demand Drafts (FCY DD) facilitate overseas transactions in a selection of six currencies including United States Dollars (USD), Great Britain Pounds (GBP), Euro (EUR), Australian Dollars (AUD), Canadian dollars (CAD) and Swiss Franc (CHF). These drafts can be used for:

  • Gift remittances to family and friends
  • Payment of application or course fees to foreign universities
  • Paying for medical expenses incurred overseas
  • Any other foreign expense as permitted by the RBI/FEMA guidelines

  1. What is Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex Card?
    The Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex Card is a reloadable, prepaid magnetic stripe card in partnership with Visa, which offers you a convenient and secure way to carry your forex cash. This card offers you the freedom to shop anywhere in the world and provides access to the currency of your destination at competitive rates. It can be used at all Visa ATMs and merchant establishment worldwide. This card cannot be used for payments in India, Nepal or Bhutan.

  2. What are the currencies available in Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex card?
    The Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex card is currently available in 3 currencies, US Dollars, Great Britain Pounds and Euro.

  3. Where can I buy the Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex Card?
    The Forex Card is available at selective Dhanlaxmi Bank branches.
    And also through the authorized agents appointed by Dhanlaxmi Bank
    You simply need to walk into the branch, fill in the required documentation, fund your card and walk out with the Card pack. The card will get activated within hours of the funding being done.

  4. Do I need to have Dhanlaxmi Bank account to purchase the Dhanlaxmi Bank Forex card?
    No, you don't need to have an account with Dhanlaxmi Bank to purchase the bank Forex Card. You can just walk into any of our selective Dhanlaxmi Bank branches in India and purchase it over the counter. If the forex equivalent INR exceeds Rs.50,000/- then the payment should be by Cheque/DD and the Forex Card will be loaded once the cheque/DD gets cleared.

  5. Where can the Forex card be used? Are there any limitations in terms of using the Forex Card?
    The Forex Card can be used at any of the Visa enabled merchants which possess a Point of Sale terminal (POS) and ATM’s. The minimum requirements on the 3 currency denominations are USD-250; EURO-200; GBP-150. The maximum amount of foreign currency that can be loaded on to the card is as per the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India.

  6. What documents should I submit when I purchase the DHANLAXMI Bank Forex- card?
    You should submit the application form for the DHANLAXMI Bank Forex- card, along with the Form A2, copies of your Passport, ticket and visa (or any other Forex Documentation as mandated under FEMA), If you are a Dhanlaxmi Bank account holder along with a Dr authorization or a cheque of equivalent INR.

  7. Are there any transactions for which this Card should not be used?
    Yes, your card should not be used for temporary charges - e.g. paying deposits at hotels, hiring of cars etc. In case you have paid these deposits using the Forex-card and the hotel/car rental agency etc. settles for an amount lesser than the deposit amount or you pay through a different mode the balance amount will get credited into your account only after 35 days from the transaction date.

    Note: the Bank reserves the right to charge the Card holder for any unauthorized amounts.

  8. Can the value of the card be topped up, if the traveler is in abroad?
    Yes, the top up or reloads can be carried out in 2 ways:

    You can authorize the Bank to debit your account by giving DHANLAXMI Bank cheque or cash or a local cheque drawn on DHANLAXMI Bank and reload the card, with proper documentation.

    Remote reload -by anybody other than yourself is also possible. The person authorised by you for the same will need to come to the bank branch with the money and will need to provide the necessary documents to the bank. On receipt of the application form and the funds, your card will get reloaded for the desired amount.

  9. Can the ATM PIN be changed?
    Yes, you can change the PIN through IVR or through ‘‘My account’’ services on www.Dhanbank.com. The ATM PIN cannot be changed at any of the DHANLAXMI Bank ATMs.

  10. What if I forget my ATM PIN?
    You can call the DHANLAXMI bank Phone Banking for assistance or through ‘’My account’’ services on www.Dhanbank.com and choose the option of change PIN.

  11. How will I know which ATMs accept the DHANLAXMI Bank Forex- Card?
    All ATMs displaying the Visa Logo will accept the DHANLAXMI Bank Forex- Card in abroad.

  12. Whom should I contact if my card is lost or stolen?
    In case of loss of card please report the loss immediately.

  13. Who should I contact for my replacement Card? Is there a charge for replacement?
    You can call the DHANLAXMI Bank Phone Banking number of your city and ask for replacement of your DHANLAXMI Bank Forex- card. The reissued card will be sent to your domestic address with the bank. The charges for the Reissue of the Card are given in the Schedule of Charges.

  14. What is the maximum value for which the Card can be used?
    There is no limit imposed on the usage of the Card. Customers can withdraw/utilise any amount, upto the loaded value on the card at any ATM/POS. However, there are some ATMs which have a per transaction limit on every withdrawal that they honor, which cannot be changed by the Bank. Hence, in such cases the cardholder might need to do multiple transactions if he wants to withdraw a higher amount.


  15. How do I make Refund and Reload on my Forex Card?
    You can take refund partially / fully from your travel card once your foreign trip is completed. You can also top up or reload you card for further trips also .For refund and reload on your forex card, you can keep in touch with selective branches of Dhanlaxmi Bank or the agents specified by Dhanlaxmi Bank from time to time.
