  1. What is Verified By Visa (VBV)?
    Verified by Visa is a service that will add an additional level of security for your online purchases. It allows you to use a One Time Password (OTP) with your Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa Debit card, making your purchases more secure over the Internet.
    To use the facility:
    • Connect to the Internet and shop online using your Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa Debit card.
    • You don't need any special software to use Verified by Visa.


  2. What is 3-D secure?
    3-D Secure is an XML-based protocol used as an added layer of security for online credit and debit card transactions. It was developed by Visa to improve the security of Internet payments and offered to customers as Verified by Visa service. Services based on the protocol have also been adopted by MasterCard, under the name MasterCard SecureCode (MSC), and by JCB International as J/Secure. 3-D Secure adds another authentication step for online payments.

  3. How does Verified by Visa work?
    Verified by Visa provides you with a 6 digits One Time Password (OTP)to protect your online transactions. Here are the steps:
    • Select the products or services you want from an online store / website / bill payment site and select “Debit Card” payment option for making a payment.
    • Enter your Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa Debit Card number with other details like Expiry Date and CVV number. The online store will connect with Dhanlaxmi Bank to check whether your Card is secured with Verified by Visa.
    • Dhanlaxmi Bank / Verified by Visa page for entering the OTP for authenticating the transaction will be displayed. This page will also have the merchant details, amount etc.
    • At the same instant a six digits One Time Password (OTP) is sent to cardholder’s registered mobile number with the Bank.
    • Enter the OTP received in the mobile and submit.
    • The payment is authorized and purchase is complete.


  4. Do I need to register my existing Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa card or do I need to apply for a new one?
    By default your VISA Dhanlaxmi Bank Debit card is registered for this service. Please ensure to have your mobile number registered with us to receive the OTP.

  5. Can I register my non-Visa cards with Verified by Visa?
    Currently, Verified by Visa is only offered on Visa card.

  6. Do I need any special equipment or software on my computer?
    All you need is an Internet connection and Internet explorer 5.0 and above. To find out if your browser is compatible, go to the "Help" menu at the upper right of your browser and select the "About" option. It should tell you what version is installed on your computer.

  7. How will the online store know that I have Verified by Visa?
    Participating online stores will automatically recognize your Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa card

  8. If I suspect someone has stolen my password/card or used it to make fraudulent purchases, what should I do?
    Contact Dhanlaxmi Bank immediately by phone at our Customer Care Number +91 0487 6613000 or by email at customercare@dhanbank.co.in. You may also visit the nearest Dhanlaxmi Bank branch. Please see the branch locator on our website.

  9. Can I get the benefit of Verified by Visa security at online stores that are not participating in the service?
    No. Dhanlaxmi Bank Verified by Visa is available only on the websites which have the Visa payment gateway option with Verified by Visa.

  10. I am a corporate account (non-individual) holder. Can I avail this facility?
    For non-individual accounts, a Debit Card is issued to the HUF and Proprietor only. If you are a HUF and Proprietor, then only you can use this facility.

  11. Who can use this facility?
    All Dhanam Visa Debit Card holders can use this facility.

  12. Is this facility available to NRI Account Holders as well?
    Yes. Dhanlaxmi Bank Visa International Debit Card is available to NRI Account holders as well.

  13. Where can I shop using Verified by Visa?
    Wherever you see the Verified by Visa symbol, you know you can shop with an additional layer of security. Whenever you use your activated card to pay at participating online stores, your Visa card number will automatically be recognized and the Verified by Visa window will appear.

  14. If my mobile number is not registered, then what is the process?
    Mobile Number is mandatory for completing the online purchase. If your mobile number is not registered with Bank, please visit the nearest Dhanlaxmi Bank branch and register your mobile number.

  15. Where can I shop with Verified by Visa?
    Look for the Verified by Visa mark on participating online stores or check the list of current participants on your local Visa website and on http://www.visa-asia.com/ap/sea/cardholders/security/vbv.shtml.

  16. What happens if I shop at a Verified by Visa merchant website while I'm not registered for this feature?
    You will be prompted for online registration for Verified by Visa by Dhanlaxmi Bank during the course of the transaction. You would need to authenticate yourself with your Dhanlaxmi Bank Debit card number, ATM PIN and card expiry details. You can choose your password to be used for Verified by Visa. Thereafter, you can continue shopping on the merchant website.
    No, first you need to use the new Debit card at an ATM and then you can use it for online purchases.

  17. I have just received a new ATM PIN (re-issued) for my existing Debit card from Dhanlaxmi Bank. I have not used my existing Debit card along with this ATM PIN at any ATM for transactions. Can I directly use the Debit card for online purchases or for Verified by Visa registration?
    No, first you need to use the new Debit card at ATM then you can use it for online purchases or for Verified by Visa registration.

  18. What is the One Time Password (OTP) that is required for Online Transactions on my Dhanlaxmi Bank Card?
    Dhanlaxmi Bank will send you a new 6 digit numeric One Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile no. every time that you initiate an online transaction. You will need to enter this OTP on the 3D Secure page to authenticate your transaction.

  19. Where will I receive the One Time Password (OTP)?
    You will receive the OTP for all your online transactions on the mobile no. registered with us. To register or update your mobile no., please contact our customer care at 0487 6613000 or contact your nearest Dhanlaxmi Bank branch .Once you have updated your mobile no., you will start receiving the OTP for online transactions.

  20. Can I generate this One Time Password (OTP) before the transaction?
    No. The One Time Password (OTP) would be automatically & instantly sent to your mobile no. registered with us, after you have started the transaction and entered your card details.

  21. Can I use one OTP for more than one transaction?
    No. Every 6 digit OTP is merchant and amount specific and hence is valid only for that particular transaction and cannot be used for any other transaction. The OTP SMS verbiage sent to you will also mention the merchant name and the amount of the transaction for easy identification.
    Every OTP is valid only for 3 mins .

  22. I was doing an online transaction and have received the OTP for the same. However, I have not used the OTP yet. I have started another online transaction and have also received the OTP for the new transaction. Can I now complete both the transactions?
    Yes. You can do more than 1 transaction at a time and you will receive a separate OTP for every transaction. The OTP SMS verbiage sent to you will also mention the merchant name and the amount of the transaction for easy identification. You can successfully complete all your transactions as long as the OTPs for those transactions are still valid.

  23. For how long is the OTP valid?
    Each OTP is valid for 3 minutes or one successful usage whichever is earlier.

  24. What happens if I input the OTP incorrectly?
    You can enter the OTP incorrectly a maximum of 3 times. After 3 unsuccessful OTP attempts, your transaction will be declined and you may re-initiate the same transaction.

  25. What happens if I do not receive the OTP?
    One Time Password (OTP) would be instantly sent to your mobile no. registered with us after you have started the transaction and entered your card details. The OTP page will also display the masked mobile number which the OTP is sent. If the mobile number displayed doesn’t match with your mobile number, please contact our customer care team at 04876613000 or your nearest Dhanlxmi Bank branch to update your correct mobile number.
    If the registered details are correct and still you have not received OTP, you can request for the OTP to be re-send to you by clicking on the link in the below message displayed on the screen-‘Re-send OTP'

  26. How many times can I request for an OTP to be re-sent to me?
    You can request for an OTP to be re-sent to you up to maximum of 3 times. If you have exhausted the no. of attempts and have still not received the OTP, please re-start the transaction.

  27. I did not receive the OTP to my registered mobile number and I requested for an OTP to be re-sent. But then I received two OTPs. Which OTP to be used as the verbiage of the SMS of both are same.
    You should submit the latest OTP received.

  28. I hold an Add-on Dhanlaxmi Bank Card and I want to do an online transaction? How can I receive the OTP for the said transaction?
    Every time that an online transaction is initiated on an Add-on Dhanlaxmi Bank Card, the OTP for that transaction is sent to registered mobile no. mapped with the Add on card and the same is displayed on the OTP page to cross verify. If there is any mismatch please contact our customer care at 04876613000 or visit your nearest Dhanlaxmi Bank branch to update the same.

  29. What if the OTP is not requested by me?
    If you have received an OTP and you have not initiated the online transaction at the merchant and for the amount as specified in the OTP message, please contact our customer care immediately at 04876613000 to block your card as it may be an unauthorized transaction.

  30. What if the merchant name appearing in the OTP message is not where I did the transaction?
    If you have received an OTP and you have not initiated the online transaction at the merchant and for the amount as specified in the OTP message, please contact our customer care immediately at 04876613000 to block your card as it may be an unauthorized transaction.

  31. The page where I input the OTP is showing a different mobile number (last 3 digits) what should I do?
    If there is any mismatch in the mobile number displayed at the OTP page, please contact our customer care at 04876613000 or visit your nearest Dhanlaxmi Bank to update the same. Once you have updated your mobile no., you will start receiving the OTP for online transactions.
